INTERVIEW
1) How was life like every day?
I would be sitting on the sofa and I would constantly hear loud explosions; our walls would be shaking so intensely it scared me most of the time. It was so hectic all the time. I rarely went outside.
2) Did your brothers ever volunteer for the army?
No, my brothers were both too young to be drafted.
3) Did any of your friends who volunteered survive? Are any of them still alive today?
Yes, a few of my friends did survive. They came out of the war with broken arms and legs, but luckily God managed to pull them through. Only a few from those who survived are alive today.
4) Did you keep in contact with any of your friends (who volunteered) afterwards?
Sadly, no...we all went our separate ways, but that's life!
5) What about your father? Did he serve in the army?
No, he was too ill.
