포항여중
포항여중 is a middle school for women only located in P'ohang-dong, South Korea. According to Korean history, the Battle of P'ohang-dong occurred at this location. The battle took place on August 13, 1950. This battle is well known for its brave female students who went to defend their school from getting attacked. These 71 students managed to fight off and keep the North Korean army for 11 hours in order to buy the American forces time of arriving to the P'ohang-dong area. The battle ended in victory for the UN forces. They were successfully able to drive the North Korean forces out of the area. 71: Into the Fire (포화 속으로) was based on the Battle of P'ohang-dong. It depicts the battle of the 71 inexperienced and unarmed teenagers who fought to defend their own school despite the fear of death.
